Why make your own PCBs?

Some people wonder, why some people still make their PCBs at home rather then having the manufactured by companies like PCB-Pool and M&V. In general I can't say much about it, but I can tell why I make them myselve. My problem is not the money for the manufacturing of a PCB, it is the too short holiday. When I have one or two weeks vacation and I develope a circuit, I want to have a PCB as soon as possible. When I order it, it takes about two weeks. Then I rather make them myself. Most of the time it is even cheaper to make the PCB at home, because I don't pay myself an hourly rate. And it is fun to do so.

On the following pages I will show how I make my own PCBs using a controller PCB for my amplifier as an example.
